Love song to Jerusalem

Rockefeller Museum in Jerusalem, 2018. During the opening hours for the audience, I enter with a tripod and a camera and improvises. Until five years ago, I was an ultra-Orthodox and could not sing because according to Halacha, women were forbidden to make their voice heard because it is immodest. The museum has rules and it is customary to keep quiet. But the findings there are part of my history. They activate something within me. I must respond to it. My voice wants to be heard. The space longs to be filled.

To be an Arab Muslim Female who grew up in a mixed Cultured and religious place isnt easy. The religious world that I was raised on had changed when I grew up.  I realized that what I was raised on was the things that my parents and the community wanted me to believe in.As an adult I decided to test this world, to try it myself but as much as I tried to run away from the past, the truth had followed me.
This video art gives the viewer the chance to watch my world, to be part of it, to be a part of 
my divided world, which starts from religion, adulthood, childhood, a place and a home.
